Minimally-invasive Surgery

In minimal invasive surgery, surgeons use various surgical techniques to create smaller incisions compared to a conventional approach of the same operation. As a result, patients will end up with smaller wounds, less post- operative pain, faster recovery and earlier return to work.

This modern technique is also known as key-hole surgery or laparoscopic surgery, which is most commonly performed in surgeries involving the abdominal cavity. Surgeons make several 5-10mm incisions at the abdominal wall and insert specialized instruments into the the abdominal cavity to carry out the required operation. After the procedure, the insufflated gas is let out of your abdomen, the incisions are closed with stitches or clips and a dressing is applied.

Endoscopy

The procedure itself is not only diagnostic, but can also be therapeutic and even involve advanced minimal invasive techniques to perform procedures at the target area. Common diagnostic endoscopic procedures includes gastroscopy and colonoscopy.

Our centre provides advanced endoscopic services such as endoscopic ultrasound to examine the gastrointestinal tract and beyond, endoscopic submucosal dissection for pre-cancerous lesions and early cancer of the gastrointestinal tract and per oral endoscopic myotomy for the treatment of achalasia.
